Lyrical hip hop

Hip- hop dance is a street dance style performed to hip-hop music. The major hip-hop styles are breaking, locking and popping. Hip-hop is well-known since it has been danced in almost all the TV shows. But there is a special genre of hip-hop called the 'Lyrical hip-hop' that has developed in the recent years. It had not been in the public eye until it was featured in the popular TV show 'So You Think You Can Dance'. Lyrical dance is a different genre that includes elements from Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and tap dance.  It gives an emotional connect through the dancer's gestures and facial expressions. Hip-hop needs energy, clarity of steps and sharp twists and turns. So lyrical hip-hop is a combination of both. The movements are hip-hop based but the dance expresses the feelings of the dancer. It is usually danced to a slow music to give the emotional feel.

Oppan Gangnam Style

A recent album that has won million hearts goes "OPPAN GANGNAM STYLE...........". Well, the actual meaning of Gangnam Style refers to the lifestyle in Gangnam district of Seoul, where people are trendy and hip. This album, sung by the Korean singer PSY(short for PSYCHO) was released on July 15,2012. By December 2012 "Gangnam Style" became the first song to have a billion likes in YouTube. It was also recognized by the Guinness World Records as the most liked video on YouTube

It  is the only song to outshine Justin Bieber's "BABY" as the most viewed song. Gangnam Style became so popular only because of PSY's haunting and hilarious moves and the captivating music. His moves were adopted by the leaders like Obama, David cameroon and Ban-ki-Moon as a symbol of peace. The American Council on Exercise estimated that dancing Gangnam Style will burn 150-200 calories per hour. According to the Bank of Korea, the country's services account recorded a surplus of USD 2.3 billion in the first nine months of this year, compared to a deficit of USD 4.5 billion last year. This was mainly due to the growing influence and popularity of K-pop songs such as "Gangnam Style".

After the release of "Gangnam Style", the American talent manager Scooter Braun, who discovered Justin Bieber on YouTube, asked on Twitter "How did I not sign this guy (PSY)".

The Hindi version of the Gangnam Style has been introduced in the film "RANGREZZ" directed by Priyadharshan, produced by Vashu Bhagnani and starring Jacky Bhagnani and Priya Anand. This song has also become fanatical among the Indians but with folkish steps and a different picturization.

Gumboot dancing

Dance is for anyone and everyone. Different dance styles have been fashioned by people all over the globe like HIP HOP by Americans, ODORI and MAI by Japanese, DEVIL DANCE (Yakun Natima) by Sri Lankans and so on. One such dance from Africa is the "GUMBOOT DANCE". This incredibly peculiar dance was initially started by the miners of South Africa. Having faced a lot of hardship and tribulations from their bosses, including punishment for talking, the miners were forced to build up their own means of communication and thus came the Gumboot dancing. This dance form doesn't need any music to be played because the dancers create music by clapping their hands and stamping their feet. The dancer wears a special kind of boots known as Wellington Boots which may contain bells so that they ring to create music. This sound was used as a language in the mining grounds. It was primarily employed to call someone far away. But today it has become one of the most celebrated dance forms like Salsa and Jazz.
